About Nikki Teeuw
Based in Melbourne, Australia, I am a screenwriter, novelist and short film director passionate about storytelling and bringing unique narratives to life through books and film. I'm not afraid to touch on tough subjects but I also love finding the heart of a story, both visually and emotionally. I'm dedicated to female-led stories and engaging the audience. I love a story that keeps me guessing and I love films that touch the soul. My first short, The Tsunami, was my directorial debut and was based on my prose of the same name, touching on the violence against women crisis. I have written two features that are in early conversations with executives—a psychological drama written for an adult audience, and a children's family fantasy. I have also written a psychological thriller novel and I have an independently released book of prose available on the BOOKS page of this site.
I have completed creative writing and 'Write Your Novel' courses with The Australian Writers' Centre. And I have studied screenwriting and directing with AFTRS (Australian Film Television and Radio School).
And I was recently accepted into Nicky Weinstock's 'Craft Services'. A group of fortunate writers selected for mentorship and guidance. A welcome opportunity to further hone my craft.
I also have a background as a singer/songwriter. My music catalogue can be found on Apple Music.
